Optimization of hydrophobic nonresponsive sol-ketal acrylate gel film to hydrophilic thermo-responsive gel by graft-polymerization

Abstract This work has been done in three steps. First, the preparation of acrylate monomers; they are [dimethyl-1,3-dioxoylan-4-yl-methylacrylate (sol-ketal acrylate) (SKA)], [4-acetylphenyl (APHA)], and [4-formyl-2-methoxyphenylacrylate (VA)]. All monomers were evaluated using 1 H, 13 C-NMR, FT-IR. In next step, two kinds polymers prepared. Two series copolymers terpolymers carried out via free-radical polymerization; SKA with photo-cross-linker for poly (SKA- co -DMIAm) polymer VA APHA N -isopropylacrylamide (NIPA- -VA- -APHA) functional-thermo-responsive terpolymer. fabricated investigated by (1H-NMR, FT-IR, UV, GPC, DSC). The phase separation temperature solutions measured through turbidity change transmittance to temperatures UV–Vis spectroscopy. Eventually, UV was used form gel layer after deposition gold layer. nonresponsive grafted optimize upper thermo-responsive functional SPR/OW swelling properties layers. active will immobilize biological molecules primary amine group. Graphical abstract schematic diagram shows steps formation: cross-linking initiated UV; film thickness; grafting optimization.
